Coleman High School students annually.

2024 Scholarship Recipients​



Vallyn Elyse Rosales


Hagen Cavanaugh

Vallyn Elyse Rosales is the daughter of Ruben and Jacque Rosales.  She was named the Valedictorian of the CHS Class of 2024. She has participated in varsity volleyball, basketball, and track. She has also been a part of academic UIL, Student Council, NHS, and Band. During her freshman and sophomore years she served as Class President. Her sophomore year she received honors including Academic All-District for volleyball and basketball, Area Track qualifier in the 1600m Relay, and Regional UIL qualifier in Editorial and News Writing.

During Vallyn's junior year she received Academic All-District in volleyball and basketball, as well as First Team All-District in basketball, Vallyn was a Regional UIL qualifier in Editorial, News, and Feature Writing, placing 2nd in News and advancing to State earning 4th place. So far in her senior year she has earned Academic All-District in volleyball and basketball and received Second Team All-District in basketball. She also will be competing at the State Academic UIL Meet again this year in News Writing.

She has received A-Honor roll her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. She has been  warded the highest average award in Biology GT/Honors, English II GT/Honors, Spanish I, and English III GT/Honors. Her Senior year, Vallyn received the highest average award in Calculus, Spanish 2, Economics, and English 1301/1302.  Vallyn has also been in the Top 10% throughout all four years of high school. Vallyn gives back to her community through NHS and Student Council volunteer activities. Some of her community works include: school supply packing, coaching junior high girls during spring basketball, working the Coleman cross country meet, organizing and cleaning the high school library, providing assistance at the West Texas Rehab Auction, cleaning up the highway and many other services. Vallyn has been a Lifeguard at the Coleman Country Club for 3 years.

Vallyn plans to attend the University of North Texas to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in hopes of becoming a physical therapist. Good luck, Vallyn!

Hagen Cavanaugh is the son of Tiffany Guerrero and Cody Cavanaugh.  He has participated in many sports and extracurricular activities and received several honors. He ran track his Freshman through Senior year where he made it to regionals several years in the 200-meter and 4x100-meter relay. Hagen also made it state in the 200m his senior year.

He played baseball from Freshman through Senior year and football from Freshman to Junior year. During his Junior football season, he was awarded All-Big County Preps team and All-State Specialty returner 2nd team. Hagen also was involved in FCA during his Freshman and Senior years.

Hagen was inducted into the National Honor Society his Junior year and was still involved his Senior year. He competed in UIL his Freshman through Senior year where he achieved first place as an individual in accounting his Sophomore year at the district meet. He also made it to regionals twice, two years for accounting. Hagen has volunteered in the Student Council during his Freshman through Senior year where he was voted Secretary for the Student Council as a Senior. One highlight in Student Council is when he helped the Round up for Rehab Center where the Student Council auctioned off donations to raise money.

He was involved in the Junior Chamber for three years where he helped run the Fiesta De La Paloma, made Christmas cards for the nursing home and delivered them, helped hand out candy, ran a haunted house during Halloween, and helped in any way to clean up the City of Coleman Texas. He was in FCCLA his Freshman year where he placed 6th at State on Nutritional Wellness project. Hagen was also voted Class President and held that position through his Sophomore through Senior years. Hagen attends two churches, Beltway Park Church in Abilene and Gouldbusk Baptist Church in Gouldbusk.

Hagen plans to attend Abilene Christian University to major in Business management. Good luck, Hagen!

Kaitlyn Fought


Hogan Johnson

     Kaitlyn Fought is the daughter of Holly Fought and Jason Titsworth.  During her Coleman High School years Kaitlyn participatedin FCCLA, FFA, National Honor Society, yearbook and took dual-credit courses.  Kaitlyn also participated in community service.  After high school, Kaitlyn plans to attend Howard Payne University to earn her PhD in Psychology.

     Hogan Johnson is the Valedictorian of the Coleman High School Class of 2023.  He is the son of Clint and Michelle Burkey.  During his Coleman High School years, Hogan was on the Bluecat football team,participated in Track & Field and UIL Academics.  Hogan also was a member of the Student Council and was selected to be in the National Honor Society.  Hogan was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was in the Junior  Chamber.  Hogan's plans for the future are to attend Mays Business schoolat Texas A&M University. He will major in Business Administration in an attempt to become successful in that field of study.  Hogan also said, "I hope to be the greatest manI can be not only for myself but for my family.  The one person I will strive to impress is my Grandfather because earning his respect would make me a better man."




CHS Alumni Association Scholarships for 2022 CHS Graduates 
The CHS Alumni Association is pleased to announce the two scholarship awards for the Coleman High School Graduating Class of 2022 were presented to Gus Allen and Jordan Rae at the annual Senior Assembly held at the CHS auditorium on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Jordan Rae

     Gus Allen is the son of Ronda and Kevin Allen of Coleman. He has chosen to attend Tarleton State University to pursue a degree in Biomedical Science.  His career goal is to go to medical school to become a General Physician or Physician’s Assistant to help save lives.  Gus has participated in athletics including football, baseball, track, and powerlifting.  He has been a member of the Future Farmers of America, Student Council, and the Bluecat News Network.

     Jordan Rae is the daughter of Crystal and Chris Brann and Max and Julie Rae.  She has also chosen to attend Tarleton State University to participate in track and field and pursue a degree in General Business.  Jordan has provided support to many local efforts for Holiday Hill, First Baptist Church, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  She participated in University Interscholastic League competition for news writing and copy editing, as well as athletics participating in volleyball and track and field. 

     Gus and Jordan have both been members of the CHS National Honor Society with associated community service activities.  They will each receive $5000 scholarships to be used over two or four semesters at their discretion. The CHS Alumni Association appreciate alumni member and community funding support for this scholarship effort.  Join with us as we congratulate and encourage them in their future goals and careers.

CHS Class of 2021 Recipients

The CHS Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the two scholarship awards for the Coleman High School Graduating Class of 2021 were presented to Analis Flores and Haylee West at the annual Senior Assembly held at the CHS auditorium on Friday, May 19th.

Haylee West

     Analis Flores is the daughter of Tonya Walters and Pedro Flores of Coleman.  She has chosen to attend Angelo State University to pursue a degree in Nursing.  Her career goal is to become a registered nurse.

     Haylee West is the daughter of Lori and Lee Wayne West of Coleman.  She has also chosen to attend Angelo State University to pursue a degree in Psychology. Haylee’s desire is to pursue a graduate program to become a licensed professional counselor to assist soldiers, veterans and first responders.

     Analis and Haylee were involved in school and community activities and will each receive a $5000 scholarship to be used over two or four semesters at their discretion.  The CHS Alumni appreciate alumni member and community funding support for this scholarship effort.   Join with us as we congratulate and encourage them in their future goals and careers.


CHS Class of 2020 Recipients

The CHS Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the two Scholarship Awards for the Coleman High School Class of 2020 were presented to Jenna Deramus and Blake Greaves.  This was the year of Covid, so no annual Senior Assembly was held.

Jenna Deramus is the daughter of Jeremy and Christina Deramus. While attending Coleman High School Jenna participated in the following activities: Cheerleading, FFA, Theatre Arts, Rocketry, Student Council, Athletics, Band, Junior Chamber, and UIL Academics. She was also a Class Officer and selected to the National Honor Society.  Jenna's specific awards and honors are shown here.   Jenna plans to attend Texas A&M University for a Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences and continue on to medical school.


Blake Greaves is the son of Dusty and Kristi Greaves.  Blake will be attending Texas A&M University and majoring in Agribusiness.  A list of Blake's activities and accomplishments during his high school career are shown here.


I visited with Jenna Deramus, who was one of our scholarship recipients in 2020, over the Easter Weekend 2024.  She had just been accepted into Texas A&M's Veterinary Program for the fall 2024 semester.  She is also now engaged!

The CHS Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the two Scholarship Awards for the Coleman High School Class of 2019 were presented to Blair Phillips and John Deramus at the annual Senior Assembly held at the CHS Auditorium on Friday, May 17, 2019.

John Deramus

Blair Phillps is the daughter of Johnna and Berry Phillips of Coleman.  She has chosen to attend Tarleton State University to pursue a degree in Agricultural Economics with a minor in Agricultural Communications.  Her career goal is to become an agricultural banker.  Academically Blair ranked 4th among the 2019 graduates.

John Deramus is the son of Christina and Jeremy Deramus of Coleman.  He has chosen to attend Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Animal Science.  John's desire is to then be accepted into the Veterinarian School at A&M.  Academically he ranked 2nd among the 2019 graduates.

Both recipients received numerous awards and were involved in many school and community activities.

Congratulations and best wishes to these outstanding students who represent Coleman High School in the best of all ways!
