Ralph Terry
My Window on the World
I
am a retired photographer and custom framer
in central Texas, owning and operating a
studio since 1974, but now I do only copy
and restoration photography, mostly with old
photographs. Over the years, I have
accumulated many old photographs, books and
other archival material, which I have often
shared. I hope to add much of this
material to my websites and to find others
interested in carrying on the updating and
maintenance of these online archives.
Below are links for the
websites maintained by Ralph Terry. The
pages on my websites primarily deal with my
family genealogy and Coleman County, Texas local
history and genealogy. I also maintain
websites for Coleman High School Alumni and
another for the Coleman High School Alumni
Association and its reunions. I also
maintain a website for St. Mark's Episcopal
Church in Coleman.
In 2026 the Coleman Public
Library opened the Ralph Terry Collection of
Photography and Coleman County History, an archive of material I
have accumulated over my lifetime about
Coleman County. I will be organizing and
cataloging this material in the coming years
into the library online catalog. My archives also includes the
negative files of the Coleman, Texas studios
of Frank Dunlap (1947-1949), Hugh Capps
(1949-1974) and Ralph Terry (1974-to date),
and the back issues of available Coleman
County newspapers from 1908.
As
the long time historian of Coleman and Coleman
County, I give talks from time to time on
photography, Coleman County history and
genealogy. I have a few Coleman County
history books for sale ... see the link below.
My first
love, however, is still genealogy, in which I
have been involved since the early 1960s.
My family genealogy files are connected with the
families of my late wife, Judia's, family.
Judia passed away in 2021, but I continue to
update her family.
Note that I have been building websites for
over 30 years and still use older methods of
construction. These pages were built for
computer use, not cell phones, so sometimes
they work well on phones and sometimes
not. Try turning you phone horizontally
if you have a problem with any of my web
pages. I have so
many pages online now that I have no desire to
modify these pages as their value is in the
information they contain, not to attract
people to them. Many of my online
pictures have been borrowed and used on other
websites without permission or credit. I
not mind others using these for their personal
use, but please credit me if you use these
photographs.
